New Zealand National Fieldays Society Future Leaders Program

The Society recognises it has reached a state of maturity, driven by the long-standing members who have guided it for almost half a century. Looking ahead, there is a need to ensure the next major period has people in governance roles to reflect upon, and design, a suitable strategy to progress the Society as time dictates.

Our Future Leaders Program creates an opportunity for leadership training for ambitious and passionate young men and women with an interest in a wider mix of agricultural and rural endeavours to grow with the Society, becoming involved with, and understanding the ethos of the organisation. Our Future Leaders candidates have a sound education base and a vision to enhance the growth of sustainable agriculture in New Zealand.

With Future Leaders, participants are involved with the base work at the Society’s major events, leading on to gaining an understanding of both the committee structure and the Board. The first tranche of four young people were chosen from a number of applicants from within the Society and the Young Farmers’ organisation. These people will soon be announced and commence a programme where they will be encouraged to gain a working knowledge of our organisation in order to fit them for suitable insertion in the future at senior levels in the Society.
